Interactive Performances

As I began developing performances for adult audiences, I wondered what would happen if storytelling became something we explored together. The result is a collection of interactive performances that blend storytelling, theater, humor, games, and audience participation to spark curiosity, laughter, and meaningful conversation.

Some performances invite audiences to become contestants in a live game show. Others transform familiar stories into collaborative theatrical experiences where the audience helps reshape the narrative. Each performance offers something different, but they all share the same belief: stories are at their most powerful when we bring them to life.

Becoming 'Merican

The Game Show

Born here, naturalized, still waiting, or simply watching someone you love navigate the maze- welcome to the process!

Becoming ’Merican: The Game Show transforms the U.S. citizenship process into a live absurd competition where audience volunteers face mock interviews, paperwork races, loyalty rituals, and unpredictable bureaucratic tests in a performance that blends satire, personal narrative, poetry, and participation.

"Carolina created an interactive experience where laughter, participation, and unexpected moments of learning came together."  - Audience member, Asheville Fringe Festival 2026

Me, the Mexican
...but I am Colombian!

A Cultural Trivia Show

When you’re Colombian but everyone insists you’re Mexican, what do you do? If you’re me, you turn it into a hilarious, poignant, and deeply human one-woman show.

Me, the Mexican but I am Colombian: blends storytelling, poetry, and audience participation in an honest look at life as a Latina immigrant in the U.S.

I share stories of mistaken identity, cultural assumptions, and microaggressions, sometimes absurd, sometimes hurtful, always real. With a cheeky poem about riding imaginary mules and tales that span from Colombia to the US, I invite audiences to laugh, reflect, and rethink what it means to really see one another.

Performed at the International Storytelling Center, Jonesborough, TN, Aug, 2025

Twice into the Woods

An Interactive Story Lab

Twice into the Woods is an interactive Story Theater performance that transforms classic fairy tales and myths into a shared act of imagination.

We begin with a traditional telling, where audience volunteers step into the roles of the characters while Carolina narrates the story as it has been told through generations.

Then, we venture into the woods a second time.

After the first telling, performers and audience revisit the story as collaborators. Together, we examine the characters' motives, shine a light on overlooked heroes, reconsider the ending, question the roles of villains and protagonists, and imagine new possibilities for secondary characters.

After this creative exploration, we journey into the woods once more and perform the story we have reimagined together.

Rooted in Carolina's years of Story Theater work with children and youth, and enriched by her experience performing with improv troupes, Twice into the Woods celebrates the idea that stories are not fixed. They are living narratives that invite us to question, reinterpret, and discover new possibilities together.
