Mis queridas amigas y amigos, I'm thrilled that you're curious about the tales I have up my sleeve! For a. Here are some true—yet at times unbelievable—tales that began in my childhood and continued as I embarked on my journey in the US. You will also find the traditional shows I continue to perform to honor my Latin American roots.
Here the story of how I landed in the US.

Cultured Shocked: Not Your ESL Classroom
Cultured Shocked: Not Your ESL Classroom is my original solo storytelling show, where I explore what happens when language, identity, and culture crash—and sometimes, very slowly—collide.
In this three-part journey, I bring to life the humorous and heartfelt trials of finding my voice as an immigrant in the American South.
In On Speaking Inglis, I hilariously recount the struggle of learning English one sitcom at a time. My Name digs into the chaos of mispronunciations and the deep, emotional pull of reclaiming my full identity. And in Biscuits, I declare war on baked goods—and unexpectedly find belonging in a Southern kitchen with a 94-year-old queen named Doris.
This show blends sharp humor, vivid storytelling, and emotional truth, offering a fresh, bilingual take on what it really means to “fit in” without giving yourself away. If you’ve ever fumbled a word, a name, or a cultural cue—this show is for you.
Here's a sample of one of the stories told at Story Parlor in Asheville. This story discusses how much my name has changed since I moved to the US.
Me, the Mexican! But I am Colombian!
A Fun Diversity Training
When you’re Colombian but everyone insists you’re Mexican, what do you do? If you’re me—you turn it into a hilarious, poignant, and deeply human one-woman show.
Me, the Mexican but I am Colombian: A Fun Diversity Training blends my storytelling, poetry, and audience participation in an honest look at life as a Latina immigrant in the U.S.
I share stories of mistaken identity, cultural assumptions, and microaggressions—sometimes absurd, sometimes hurtful, always real. Through my “Diversity Training game show,” a cheeky poem about riding imaginary mules, and tales that span from Colombia to North Carolina, I invite audiences to laugh, reflect, and rethink what it means to really see one another.
With humor, heart, and a lot of sass, I turn stereotypes upside down and remind us all that diversity isn’t a checkbox—it’s a journey.
Colombia Mia
I've often been asked to share Colombian tales, and after much anticipation, I'm thrilled to present a show dedicated to my beloved country!
Colombia Mia transports us to the dawn of time, where Serankwa, the lone spirit, pondered the world's creation. Journey through Colombia's heart as we encounter the Muisca people and their profound connection to the Legend of El Dorado. Finally, meet a charming peddler who falls for the wrong girl in one of Colombia's most iconic folktales, the Legend of El Hombre Caiman.
Join us for an enchanting evening that will bring to life Colombia's magic, mystery, and cultural richness.
From Xibalba to the Moon: Epic Tales of the Maya
Since I began sharing Latin American tales, I fell in love with Maya culture. Their stories are among the most intriguing and adventurous. Join me on a journey to the Maya underworld, where we will meet two brothers who must prove their worth against the lords of Xibalba.
Our next stop will be the heavens, where we will witness Ixchel, the moon goddess, drawn into a perilous conspiracy that threatens her very existence. Finally, we will encounter Maestro Almendro, a Maya healer who loses his soul to a greedy merchant but finds redemption through the kindness of a humble slave woman. Watch Ixchel's story here as told at the Apple Seed Podcast!
